Thanks Honey!

Honey is one of my favorite real unprocessed foods for many reasons!  It is sweet and simple yet oh so powerful.  Much scientific research indicates that the sugar in honey helps keep blood glucose levels normal, even in diabetics. Honey’s anti-bacterial properties help keep the germies at bay.  Honey is packed full of antioxidants which squelch carcinogens.   Honey can quiet a persistent cough.  And honey can alleviate seasonal allergies.  Have a burn, cracked skin or a nasty pimple?  Well, honey can help with that too!  I find it to be one of the best skin healers I have ever used and it can fight off infection in the wound.  Several years ago the FDA approved the use of honey in dressings for severe burns.

Even bees and honey have been subjected to industrial farming.  The honey found in most grocery stores may look like honey, but in my opinion is far from the real thing.  Large bee farmers feed their bee’s high fructose corn syrup.  Bees were designed to suckle flower nectar, not a highly processed corn product.  Additionally, commercial honey has been pasteurized and filtered, burning off and leaving behind its healthy and healing properties.

When choosing honey look for local, raw, unfiltered honey.  The local aspect ensures that the pollen in honey will be the same pollen that is giving your immune system a hard time and causing seasonal allergies.  By ingesting the honey and introducing the pollen to your body in a positive way, your immune system should eventually stop the allergic reaction.  The raw and unfiltered aspects will ensure that the miraculous healing properties of honey will be kept intact and available for your cells to use.

Just 1 teaspoon of honey a day can help keep many ailments away!
